ENDLESS ROLLING MILL:
ADVANCED SOLUTIONS FROM THE MARKET PIONEERS
The concept of endless hot rolling emerged as a response to the growing demand for cost-effective production of hot-rolled steel sheets, offering advantages over the traditional batch-type process. In this method, endless rolling is achieved by connecting the tail end of a preceding transfer bar with the head end of the subsequent transfer bar, a process occurring after the roughing stands but before reaching the finishing stands. Primetals Technologies pioneered the development of equipment for induction-heating joining (IHJ) and super deformation joining (SDJ), making endless rolling feasible. Additionally, the installation of the dynamic Pair Cross mill can address challenges such as flying strip-thickness variations and the rise in thermal crowns that arise from continuous rolling.
